Common Questions for caregivers and family members.

  • How can I see available caregivers?
    Download our mobile app and create your account. Next, you will see the "Find a caregiver" option where you will be asked to enter your desired services, itinerary and location. Then, you will see the list of available caregivers and their prices. If you do not see available caregivers, you can send us a Whatsapp message or call us at 787-330-0180 or 787-434-3309.
  • Is the application used for temporary care only?
    No, in our app you can have a long term caregiver, notify our team and come to an agreement with the caregiver. In our app it will only allow you to book up to a maximum of one week as our payment system works on a weekly basis, however that does not mean that the caregiver will change week to week. It only means that the payment (reservation) is made weekly.
  • What are the costs, does it vary according to services and/or day shift vs. night shift?
    The cost at MK Care does not vary according to the services or type of shift, it only varies according to the type of caregiver. Each caregiver assigns their cost per hour and is verified with our team according to their profession, qualifications, experience and market. We show you the ranges we have in our app: Caregivers with basic skills starting at $10/hour: Caregivers with basic skills for direct patient care with 0-4 years of experience. They do not have any current, accredited certification to care for older adults. Typically a housekeeper or nursing student early in their career as a professional caregiver. Caregivers with intermediate skills start at $12/hour: they are caregivers with more advanced patient care skills, have been practicing in the field for 5 to 9 years and have experience with at least 2 or 3 types of patients. Usually practical/graduate nurses and/or housekeepers with current elder care certifications. Caregivers with advanced skills starting at $15/hour: Caregivers with a variety of experiences with different types of patients (e.g., tracheostomy, ventilator, gastro, cancer patients, etc.) and with 10+ years of practice in the field. Typically practical or graduate nurses who have a current nursing license and/or housekeepers with at least 3 current specialty certifications.
  • What happens if a caregiver is unable to attend the service?
    Our team reimburses you for hours not worked and, if you need a replacement, we help you find another replacement caregiver.
  • Is it possible to make cash or mobile payments?
    We do not accept cash payments for security. All payments are made through our app or Invoice where you pay with any Visa or Mastercard card. At the moment we do not have a Mobile ATH system. We can accommodate direct deposit payments.
  • Does MK Care verify caregivers?
    Yes, all caregivers must go through our rigid process before they can be approved, which involves a series of interviews and document verification. All caregivers must have current: Act 300 or MK Care Background Check, Certificate of Good Conduct, Health Certificate, Photo ID and CPR.
  • How can I apply?
    To apply, you must complete our employment form. You can fill it out by clicking here.
  • What is the salary?
    At MK Care, each caregiver assigns their hourly rate and establishes it when they complete the form. Then, during the interview, our team confirms your hourly rate if it is in the correct range according to your profession, experience and qualifications.
  • How does it work to receive customers?
    Once approved by our team, clients can see and apply according to their available schedule. MK Care does not assign clients, but rather helps them recommend caregivers according to their needs and schedule preferences. When a client requests you, you will receive an in-app notification to accept or decline the service. In the app you will see the services they request, the location and the schedule.
  • When do I receive my payment?
    Your payment is completed at the end of each reservation. The maximum would be weekly. Once the service is marked as completed, the customer receives a notification to confirm, once confirmed, your payment is initiated. Payment may take between 1 and 5 days to be reflected in your account, depending on your banking institution.
  • Is it possible to receive payment in cash?
    No, for security and transparency we do not make cash payments, nor do we receive cash payments from customers.
